St. Patrick's Parade, Raleigh, March 17, 2007

Our third St. Patrick's Parade. It was cold with a pretty mean wind much of the time, but great fun nonetheless. There was a big crowd in spite of the weather. Bob and Wade had to be out of town and were sorely missed.

In addition to the photos below, this year we have two AVI video clips of the rig in motion, one short and one long. Be patient downloading the long one.

StPats07-ShortVideo.avi (about 5 seconds, 2+ Mb)
StPats07-LongVideo.avi  (about 48 seconds, 24 Mb)
StPats07-LongVideo320x240.avi  (This is a compressed version of the longer video, only 4.3 Mb, and looks about as good. It works fine with RealPlayer, but on my system Windows Media Player will only play about 28 seconds and the video freezes.  It crashes my version of QuickTime.)

This year the rig sported a real
Irish flag, "aquired" by Ron from
the Dublin-Liverpool ferry during
the 1977 Applie Chill Cloggers
tour of the British Isles.

Cap'n Kurt  braved the cold wind
to get up early to set up the rig
and drive the tractor downtown. It
was just as cold for the drive home
after the parade.

Vicky's dog Frances, a Westie,
stole the show, dressed in her
native garb.

The gang this time, before Anne
arrived, with Kurt taking the photo.

adornments.

Anne ran a mini-marathon
in the morning but arrived
in time.

Ron and his Big Bottom
strapped in securely
amidst
the chickens.

Warming up on a cold day.
Some hurtin' fingers!

parade. We were followed by
a nifty horse and wagon.
